Underground Picnic
Underground holiday homes in Zeeland
How to offer all holidaymakers who come to Zeeland and stay without destroying what they came for, the landscape/emptiness?
The obvious solution is an underground holiday villa. A house that has little or no impact on the landscape. A 25 X 14-metre concrete container that rises only 90 centimetres above ground level in places. The size of the house compensates for the absence of the view of the horizon. The car disappears below ground level along with it, a long corridor, a large kitchen and a sitting room that can be fully involved with the patios by means of the two rolling doors
The villas are not concentrated in (closed) enclaves but scattered in the existing landscape. In the polders neatly arranged straight in a row. On the old land in the margins, in forgotten bits of land consolidation. In the woods in the same way as the trees, here and there
one. The ground-level programme is independent of the presence of a villa. Depending on the situation, from your bath you have a view of a, corncob, old beech or a curious cow.
