Latent Space NAI

Supporting walls and sighing walls

Exhibition featuring work by various artists and architects at the Netherlands Architecture Institute, including: Diller + Scofidio, Katharina Bosse, Ricci Albenda, Alex Schweder, Elmgreen + Dragset and Aziz + Cucher.

All artworks are brought together in one large installation:
- 1 white wall with the artworks on it.
- 1 curved wall/floor painted phosphorescent.
- 2 black curtains with splits lined in white fabric.

The lighting is dynamic, from normal level (4 minutes) to very bright (1 minute) then total darkness (only the phosphorescent paint lights up) to normal again (1.5 minutes). As a result, you can still see everything in the "dark" since the paint gives off so much light. Also, like a true Lucky Luke, you can walk away from your own shadow, if it is left on the floor and wall. In doing so, the interior establishes a relationship with Jurgen Mayer's Heat-Seats, among other things, and of course the exhibition's theme, the sublime experience as an aesthetic category.
